Private Events and Background Music
Enhance your event with live piano music. I play a variety of styles such as jazz, classical, and the American songbook to suit the occasion, whether this be a wedding, birthday party, private recital, or background music at a reception or dinner. Personalize your event by requesting your favorites!
During the holiday season, I bring together groups of professional carolers to sing holiday favorites in four-part harmony for cocktail hours, tree-lighting ceremonies, and other private and corporate events! Singers arrive in festive attire ready to sing more than fifty carols. At right: a quartet on a TV talk show.
Organ Demos and Workshops
Ever wonder how the pipe organ works? Pianist who'd like to learn to play the organ (and perhaps build a side hustle)? I offer organ demos weekly at Washington National Cathedral that are open to the public. Come see and hear the organ up close, from shimmering sounds to majestic roars, every instrument of the orchestra at your fingertips and more than 10,000 pipes nestled in the chambers! Private organ demos can be arranged for individuals or groups and can include a tour of the National Cathedral. I also offer lessons for piano students who are new to the organ, as I was a few years ago. Piano teachers, I'd love to provide a workshop for your entire studio.
Musical Gatherings
Socialize with other music lovers in the presence of a professional. I can present a brief lecture, perform short selections, and facilitate conversation on a certain style, composer, piece or other topic of mutual interest such as Music Perception (psychology), The Musician as Athlete, or 'Is classical music dying?' Truth vs. Fiction. These informal affairs can be tied to current musical events and may take place in a private residence or a location of your choice.
Concert Companions
Enrich your concert experience or try classical music for the first time. As a seasoned professional, I will help you choose a performance you're going to love, attend the performance with you, share my knowledge of the repertoire before the curtain rises, and discuss the performance during intermission and post concert. Individuals or small groups welcome. Ideal for experienced concert goers and those wanting to attend their first classical concert.
