Private Events and Background Music
Enhance your event with live piano music. I play a variety of styles such as jazz, classical, and the American songbook to suit the occasion, whether this be a wedding, birthday party, holiday gathering, private recital, or background music at a reception or dinner. Personalize your event by requesting your favorites!
During the holiday season, I also bring together groups of professional carolers to sing holiday favorites in four-part harmony for cocktail hours, tree-lighting ceremonies, and other private and corporate events! Singers arrive in festive attire ready to sing more than fifty carols. At right: a quartet on a TV talk show.
Organ Demos and Workshops
Ever wonder how the pipe organ works? Pianist who'd like to learn to play the organ (and perhaps build a side hustle)? I offered more than 100 organ demos during my time at Washington National Cathedral for thousands of tourists from around the world as well as school groups and organizations like the City Tavern Preservation Foundation. Private organ demos can be arranged in New York for individuals or groups. They make for fantastically unique corporate team-building events and tend to appeal especially to people with interests in engineering, technology, architecture, and history.
Workshops for organists and pianists are also available and these can combine a demo with a masterclass or other such activity and be tailored to first-timers as well as more experienced organists. Topics can include effective service playing, improvisation, adapting music to different organs, and more! Workshops can also provide guidance to organ students on how build a career, including mindset, prioritization, financial negotiation and other business skills, etc. Piano teachers, I'd love to provide a workshop for your entire studio and help your students broaden their musical horizons and also discover a very marketable skill.
Musical Gatherings
Socialize with other music lovers in the presence of a professional. I can present a brief lecture, perform short selections, and facilitate conversation on a certain style, composer, piece or other topic of mutual interest such as Music Perception (psychology), The Musician as Athlete, or 'Is classical music dying?' Truth vs. Fiction. These informal affairs can be tied to current musical events and may take place in a private residence or a location of your choice.
Concert Companions
Enrich your concert experience or try classical music for the first time. As a seasoned professional, I will help you choose a performance you're going to love, attend the performance with you, share my knowledge of the repertoire before the curtain rises, and discuss the performance during intermission and post concert. Individuals or small groups welcome. Ideal for experienced concert goers and those wanting to attend their first classical concert.
